Located to the west of Pisa, the Tenuta di San Rossore was once the summer estate of Italy's president. In 1988, the Tenuta di San Rossore was transformed into a large public park, together with a few other areas of interest along the scenic coastline.
This Tenuta di San Rossore parkland now forms an important habitat for wildlife and it has become a protected haven, rich in native flora and fauna. Attractions at the Tenuta di San Rossore include populations of wild boar, deer and birds from surrounding boggy areas and nearby beaches. The Tenuta di San Rossore can be easily reached from Pisa by regular buses, which depart from Lungarno Gambacorti.
